Terms & Conditions
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Mathematics for Machine Learning (the “Service”) is a web-based, self-paced course teaching the mathematics behind machine learning. It is run by Ivelin Rangelov Likov, a self-employed sole trader based in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). You can write to us at 21 Bateman Road, London, E4 8ND, United Kingdom or email [email protected].
By using the Service — and, if you buy Pro, by completing checkout — you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you that cannot lawfully be excluded.
2. The service: free and Pro
- Free: the Foundations course (24 lessons) and 2 sample lessons are free to use, and you do not need an account for them.
- Pro: a paid upgrade that unlocks all six courses — 151 lessons and more than 1,000 auto-graded practice problems — with your progress synced across your devices.
3. Your account
You can sign in with an email and password, an emailed magic link, or your Google or X account. Sign-in is handled by Supabase, our authentication provider. Please keep your login details secure and tell us promptly via support or [email protected] if you suspect someone else is using your account — you are responsible for activity on it.
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and you must not create an account if you are under 13.
You can ask us to delete your account at any time via support. We anonymise your account data; we keep invoice records only as long as the law requires (6 years, for HMRC).
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Pro costs £42 per year or £7 per month, in each case after a 7-day free trial (see section 5). Prices include VAT where applicable.
- Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. If you are outside the UK, Stripe may show the price in your local currency (Stripe Adaptive Pricing).
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from your account page. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep Pro access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- We may also offer a one-time, fixed-term unlock (for example paid with Alipay or WeChat Pay). One-time payments do not renew automatically: access simply ends when the term you bought ends.
- If a price changes, it will only affect you from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
5. Free trial
Every Pro subscription starts with a 7-day free trial. You are not charged until the trial ends, and if you cancel during the trial you pay nothing. This means you can try the full course before any money changes hands. If you do not cancel, the trial converts into the paid subscription you chose.
6. Your 14-day right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you normally have 14 days after buying digital content to cancel and get a refund.
At checkout we ask for your express consent to give you access to the paid content immediately, and for your acknowledgement that once you access it you lose the 14-day cancellation right. This is the standard arrangement those regulations allow for digital content.
If you have paid but have not yet accessed the paid content, your 14-day right still stands: contact support within 14 days of purchase and we will cancel and refund you in full.
7. Refunds
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be as described, fit for purpose, and of satisfactory quality. If paid content is faulty or not as described, you are entitled to the remedies that Act provides, which can include a repair, a replacement, or a refund. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Beyond your statutory rights, if something has gone wrong — for example you were charged when you did not mean to be — contact support. We consider goodwill refunds case by case.
8. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- share, resell, or redistribute paid course content;
- scrape or bulk-download the Service;
- try to bypass the paywall or access controls;
- disrupt the Service or use it unlawfully.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
9. Content and your licence
All lessons, figures, and practice problems are our own original work and belong to us. When you use the Service, we give you a personal, non-commercial licence to use the content you are entitled to (free content for everyone; all content for Pro users) for your own learning. This licence does not let you copy the content for others, publish it elsewhere, or build a competing product from it.
10. Availability
We work to keep the Service available and improving, but — as far as UK law allows — it is provided “as is” and we do not promise uninterrupted, error-free access. We may change, add, or remove features over time. This section does not affect your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in relation to paid content (section 7).
11. Liability
If we cause you loss, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we will give you reasonable notice first — by email or in the app — and if you do not agree you can cancel before the change takes effect. Using the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes can be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, this does not take away any mandatory consumer protections, or any right to bring a claim in your local courts, that the law of your home country gives you. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
14. Contact
Questions about these terms, your subscription, or a refund: use “Contact support” on your account page, or email [email protected]. Post: 21 Bateman Road, London, E4 8ND, United Kingdom.
